Peter Michael Winery Farms
Seaview Vineyard
This 391-acre site stretches from the ridge top to the South Fork of the Gualala River and includes a large coniferous forest. The 30 acres of vineyards are located on the ridge top grassland. This area of the watershed was extensively logged in the 1950s and retains numerous eroding hillside roads from this era. As part of the vineyard development the old logging roads were repaired and storm proofed removing a source of sediment. See also Knights Valley site.
Knight's Valley Estate
This 605-acre site stretches from Highway 128 halfway up Mount St. Helena encompassing the historic town of Kellogg. The hillside vineyards are managed to conserve soil using cover crops. Kellogg Creek, a perennial stream supporting steelhead trout, flows through the ranch. The Michael family has planted thousands of native trees on the property and is working with the Fish Friendly Farming program to enhance steelhead habitat on Kellogg Creek. In 2007, Peter Michael Winery was given an award from FFF recognizing Outstanding Efforts in Stream Habitat Improvement and Restoration.
